TIMEC wins Best of the Best Award in Rocky Mountain Region

TIMEC was presented today with the "Best of the Best" award for its performance at the Chevron Salt Lake City, Utah refinery in 2009. The annual award is provided by the Intermountain Contractor Magazine for major projects executed each year in the states of Utah, Wyoming, Idaho and Montana. Chevron and contractor Mountain Crane, which assisted TIMEC with the project, also received the award.

An independent jury of industry experts judged nearly 110 nominated projects and then awarded projects based on their safety, complexity, innovation, quality, contribution to the community and aesthetics.

The project consisted of a four-week shutdown (April 2009) of a portion of the Chevron refinery to move live stacks and add equipment, perform repairs and complete improvements to the alkylation unit. The scope included the replacement of the V-70 acid reactor and many piping revisions. The130,000 man-hour job was completed with no injuries, within budget and on time by running a four-week schedule 24/7. Additionally, the refinery was able to keep running during the streamlined project.
“The April 2009 alkylation turnaround has been recognized for excellent Project Management and Safety,” said the Intermountain Contractor Magazine.
