TIMEC completes second year on Chevron project without recordables

La Porte, Texas  –  Thursday, 29 November 2007

TIMEC completed its second year on Chevron’s Wilson Creek project without a recordable injury or a scheduled delay. TIMEC was awarded the 3-phase job to upgrade the company’s natural gas plant in the Colorado Mountains, northwest of the city of Denver.

TIMEC started the job in April, 2006, and has just finished the second phase. The start of the third phase is anticipated for the first quarter of 2008. Each of the three phases takes approximately seven months to complete.

The first phase involved civil work such as the digging and removal of abandoned gas lines, the transportation of dirt to establish a new site and the installation of many foundations. During the second phase, new equipment was incorporated utilizing the foundations previously laid and a new long pipe rack was installed.

Major challenges were encountered throughout the project due to the hostility of the terrain. It was especially difficult to run new gas lines to well sites located up the mountain several miles away. In addition, loading the pipe rack had to be sequenced due to the lack of space for the crane to maneuver.

TIMEC is looking forward to the third phase of the project and the new challenges ahead.
